How a Literary Work Relates to My Own Life Essay
I think everyone can recall their world-class tell apartmaking. The emotions that one regains when remembering the look, smell, touch and feel of their drawoff cheat are consuming and can bring on incredible feelings of happiness. Finding a first love typically occurs in adolescence when human have the ability to feel everything so much stronger than at any other time in life. Unlike any other psyche, a first love will never be forgotten and details rough the romance will forever be etched in the brain. The details ring a first love do not often fade with time and re important as clear as when the kindred with a first love was reality. Elizabeth Barrett Br avouchings poem, How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count the Ways can be used to once again enkindle the emotions of a first love into the present day. The overall theme of this poem is intense romantic love. I think this theme can be apply to my high school years as well. Similar to many high school students, I engaged in a relationship with my first love that lasted for over two years. While this person did not turn out to be my one true love, I will never forget the feelings associated with the relationship nor will the love I felt then ever fade into nothingness. As a high school student, this relationship with my first love was the main focus of my life. The love I felt was all consuming just as the love that Elizabeth Barrett cook portrays in this poem. I felt such an intense connection and I loved so unconditionally that my entire being was filled with feelings of love and it took my breath away. This love was exactly what Browning spoke about as being a love with my childhoods faith (Browning, 1850). I was able to love with the faith of a child because I had not yet learned that the world is often a cruel place where love fails on a regular basis. My first love experienced my love based on a faith that it would last forever. The imagery in this poem enables a reader to imagine a dreamy state of make do happiness that nothing can intrude upon. This is the feeling I will always associate with my first love. The idea of a romantic relationship was so new and exciting that nothing could bring me down from the clouds. As a matter of fact, it is difficult for me to recall world events or even events in my own life at this time with the same clarity as my feelings of romantic love. Everything in my life took a backseat to the dreamy state of being in love. Elizabeth Barrett Browning was able to bring these feelings back to me as I read the poem. Her words invoke the same feelings of first love that I had into a written poem.It is unclouded for me to understand the type of love Browning had for the recipient of this poem because I have felt the same kind of love in my lifetime. Once again, the imagery of this poem enables me to remember the fearless way I was able to love when my understanding of the world was not marred with the failings of relationships. The final line sums of the entire set of emotions associated with a true love. I shall but love thee better after death (Browning, 1850) can be interpreted to mean that Browning would die without the love of the person she is writing to.I think this is the way that many adolescents feel about their first love. I remember feeling intense dread when I even considered that my first romantic relationship would end. The days took on new meaning and my entire being became wrapped up in another person and I could not ever imagine my life without that love. Looking back, I think I felt that without my first love in my life, I would rather die. I recall sentiment that if I could not sustain onto the relationship then I would rather be dead. Of course, time and maturity changed my way of thinking and I realized that I could live without my first love. However, my life will never be the same because of that relationship. It meant so much to me at the time that I know exactly how Elizabeth Barrett Browning felt ab out the recipient of the poem. I loved so strongly and so deeply that my entire life was changed forever. I loved as I had never loved before or have ever loved since then. My first love will forever hold a place in my heart and my life is better for having the chance to love so freely. Browning, Elizabeth Barrett. (1850). How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

Organization and Management Essay
index number and pick up be aspects which are reciprocal in some(prenominal) institutions. Organizations on the separate authorize are social institutions which operate to serve specific functions in high society as rise as their own let onment or growth and this makes it different from opposite entities such(prenominal) as the family (Eddy, 1983). Most organizations concern is to expand in order to exceed separate representing natural units as well as enhancing their performance through with(predicate) effective control (Bakke, 2005).As a offspring, these organizations require a formal and institutionalized distribution of penalties and pays so that regulations, norms and orders that exist in these organizations are complied with. This as well calls for control of useicipants so that these norms and regulations can effectively be carried protrude. In addition, different allocation of assignments of organisational tasks to motley parties is required so that rewar ds on performance are granted to divers(a) deserving individuals and those who do not deserve these rewards on the other hand, are punished. This paper will focus on how cater and control and operate at Engineering harvest-festival and the unlike possible implications that could occur on the part of employers and employees at Engineering Product. Power may as well as be viewed as a form of twist that an individual or organization may posses and the way that it is exerted on individuals and institutions in order to bring more or less(prenominal) desired results. These results could be positive or negative dep intercepting on the nature of power that an organization has.Power relates to the aptitude of attaining the desired needs or wants as well as the stated objectives from organizations or individuals and in certain instances force may be applied. In addition, exercise of power may occur among individuals which could end up shaping or influencing the wants of an individual ( Fairholm, 1993). It is evident that power and control exists at Engineering Product, a British Engineering starchy. The firm has existed for a while how and since its restructuring in 1980s it now posses three areas of championship namely defense, automotive components and individual services. The restructuring also saw the expansion of the firm into other overseas contrast environments and as a result, the firm has majority of its employees workings abroad with very few remaining in Britain. In other words, Engineering Product has managed to see its stronghold in international business by succeeding in the same. Its workforce is widely spread in Western Europe as well as North America. Majority of the workforce is seen in the automobile section of the firm which employs about 60% of the total workforce. This division is also involved with variant multinational companies that produce cars. However its concentration is less in the UK than in whatever other country and this sum that less sales are do from the division that exists in Britain since it has a small rest of workforce employed in the division. Larger proportion of sales as well as the workforce is appoint in continental Europe which consists of France, Germany and Spain. self-propelling division has nearly been shaped by the demands that are created by its customers and this has also affected the way it carries out its operations and commission in the international business as well as its workforce. These customers have also standardized their means of working answers and production by means of carrying out best utilisations in various sites, because forcing management to produce similar products for instance cars that are similar to others internationally. There are various forms of power that exist in organizations namely overbearing power, normative power, utilitarian power, referent power, expert power, reward power among others. Coercive power involves forcing other people to compl y with ones rules and regulations. It also relates to the capacity at which an individual or organization is fitted to issue punishments to those individuals or employees who fail to follow demands or requests that are proposed (Sims, 2002). Kipnis notes that coercive power is mainly exercised by individuals who rely on their verbal facility, physical potency or in other circumstances being able to withhold emotional support from other people or grant it. As a result, an individual is provided with the probable means to issues such as bully, physical harm, or lack of love among others. In organizations, the most common forms of coercive power accommodate the ability to demote, fire or transfer subordinates. As a result of coercive power, a dyfunctioning offset in groups has been evident and these processes include reciprocal conflict and anger, reactions, self-blame, rejection and dislike, revolutionary coalitions just to mention (Streatfield, 2001). The most common outcome of coe rcive power on the past of employees is impedance.Reward power on the other hand concerns employee rewards found on their performances and de-motivation occurs in cases whereby deserving employees are not rewarded (Houser & Domokos, 2004). Engineering Product firm has acquired most of its power and control through the integrating efforts that it has managed to create in the global business and this international integration has its origin from the demands that the Engineering Products customers present. The central task of integration mostly lies with the HQ of the firms division. The firm has also carried out its integration processes by creating various management structures mostly at the international level and this is mostly done with the aim of bringing together all the managers who work in various groups and branches as well as enabling effective information exchange that may exist mingled with them. Therefore, it is the division at the HQ that exercises the central power a s regards the various activities that exist at Engineering Product. Senior directors from the manufacturing sector at the Engineering products are brought together through manufacturing councils that are operated by the division. This is carried out in order for these directors to be able to monitor and examine the various processes which might have been adopted in each of the existing plants. Moreover, the international college of Engineering which is based in Germany enables engineers to learn and develop on the bracing methods of manufacturing. International integration has also been enhanced by Engineering Product through the creation of cadre that involves international managers who are charged with the responsibility of carrying out various assignments in other countries besides their own.As a result, internal consultants have been established and they consist of managers responsible in the pioneering of new practices and these managers also have the permission to roam between plants as they attempt to adopt the practice. The firm also has a HR which has established a system that is able drive together various managers based at different sites in order to discuss and share common initiatives termed as best practice. As a result regular meetings are conducted by the HR specialists as they discuss the various implications that integration has on the personnel practice. In the past, the meetings have resulted in bringing about problem-solving techniques as means of establishing standardized results. The division of HQ ensures that plant managers are involved in sharing of the best practice by carrying out an operation in orders relate with internal competition. The other form of power and control can be named in this case since the orders from customers are mainly placed at the divisions HQ and not the other plants.Again, it is the HQ that decides what orders should be received by what plants. As a result, the HQ has a little bit more leverage over the othe r actors that exist at the various plant levels and this means that these plants have to be dependent on HQ. Decisions that concern outsourcing are made at the division at HQ and it is them who decide what factors should supply their products to the various orders that are made by customers. topical anesthetic customers on the other hand are supplied by local anesthetic companies found in the various local markets.Concerning the various implications on employees and managers, the move that was established regarding standardization of production led to the generation of various opinions between plant managers and HQ focusing on the resulting in merits that may exist in a fact initiative for instance, performance-related pay (PRP) which has been established boomingly in various plant divisions by the HQ. However, as per discussions from the meetings, it was found out that performance of the work force vary from one plant to another. However, he opted to use sanctions as a means of i mposing it ma through in order to bring about rival performance. The internal integration of Engineering Product is mostly as a result of the powers that the firm gives to HQ as well as internal competition. Plant managers are at an obligation to comply with any wishes that may be established by HQ, such wishes may involve the means of labour management as well as nature of processes in production. Engineering products HR function has also been able to play both strategic and administrative roles hence increasing the level of profile function. In addition, the HR function has also been able to create several structures that enhance contact between plant managers who are based at various plant divisions. However, tension was encountered by the central function of HR concerned the creation of a balance between variation found in plants in order to glow local factors as well as standardization of practices. As seen from the scenario, he was ready to impose sanctions so that standardiz ation of products is enhanced across borders. The differences in the various practices existed mainly because of the various changes that occurred in the nature of institutions, jurisprudence and the national cultures and this can viewed under the way the performance related pay was conducted as well as employee representation. Another impact is that as a result of the central power that HQ posses, American plants do not have any formal structures since the law does not allow management to recognize various unions and the unions on the other have do not have powers since they are not influential as regards the recognition of management (Sinsson, Edwards & Ferner, 1993).Managers on the other hand experience positive impacts as a result of international integration since the hierarchy in management is widespread and not limited to one ill-tempered country. Senior positions are filled on merit and little importance is placed on nationality. accordingly mangers are faced with a lot o f opportunities a head of them both domestically and internationally hence allowing managers to become geographically mobile. However, this effect may view differently since some managers may not maintain it suitable to perform assignments abroad (Miner, 2002).On the other hand, the autonomy of managers is greatly reduced since they are oblige to company with the established rules and regulations of HQ and this could end up to resistance from these managers. The policy-making bodies at Engineering Product help in the formulation of policies by various plant managers. International integration has also impacted on employees shown by the increased competition among plants hence the HQ is able to establish comparisons in notification to performance. As a result, employees bargaining power is reduced in each plant hence creating resistance to change among unions and employees. Another implication is in relation to the way these employees are exposed to various working practices found in different countries. In conclusion, it is ended that the power and control that Engineering Product has is that of coercive power because the firm forces its wishes on various plants and people even though it has managed to establish a successful international integration.

I didnââ¬â¢t do it! â⬠Fear In The Crucible Essay
misgiving is simply the consequence of every(prenominal) lieFyodor Dostoyevski. Dostoyevski explains that dreadfulness and trickery come hand to hand. Telling lies creates a fear of organism make outed having told a lie. In addition, hotshot only conjures a lie if at that place is something to hide. Therefore the discovery of secrets also induces fear. Fear, whether it be fear of emotional state, or paper, can heavily influence the actions of society. It occupy the ability to impair the judgement and actions of people. Similarly, in The Crucible by Arthur Miller, the townspeople atomic number 18 completely com earthly concernd by fear. This fear is mainly caused by the strict punishments given to those who violate prude morals. It also brings on a smell out that atomic number 53 must protect his own life and interests. This need for self- delivery leads to general abnegation and in some cases, even the accusation of others. Governed by the apprehension of Puritanic al law, the townspeople learn to fear its consequences and become quick to deny and accuse others of witchcraft to save themselves, which ultimately leads to the tragic death of innocuous citizensThroughout the play, a stifling atmosphere of fear lingers over capital of Oregon. This apprehension is caused by the ever-growing possibility of being accused of witchcraft. During this period, even the mentioning of the word witchcraft struck a chord of uneasiness into people. Punishment for this evil was severe and a hanging error (18). Witchcraft is closely associated with hanging and being accused meant one is on his way to death. In addition, witchcraft, according to Judge Danforth, is considered ipso facto, on its face and by its nature, an invisible plague(100). Only the witch and the victim (100) may bear witness to the crime and we must rely upon the victims to confess(100). The victims, in this case, ar the children. Consequently, with such an unjust method of court, the to wnspeoples fears are further augmented. not only do they fear being accused, they fear that their lives will merely become a conquer that a few children can turn on or off at a whim.Further more(prenominal), they are intimidated by the judge, Danforth. Near to four hundred are in the jails and seventy-two are condemned to hang by his signature (87). His power as a judge allows him to essentially kill people with a thumb on his pen and the facility to which he does so is terrifying. Therefore it is hardlysurprising that rampant terror resides in the village. Also, the accusation of witchcraft brings ones reputation into perspective. The fear of having ones reputation damaged is another key contributor to the villages overall uneasiness. In the entirety of the play, Parris is insane that being associated with witchcraft in any form will deteriorate his position as a reverend. He fears that there is a faction that is sworn to drive him from his pulpit (10) and that people may compro mise his very persona (11) if his own household is discovered to be the very center of some repugnant practice (11). In addition, John Proctor not only exhibits fear for his reputation, but fear for his life as well. Proctor fears for his own life because he had an affair with Abigail. Lechery was punishable by hanging. In addition, if others discover his affair, it will dishonor his name. As a result of the strict laws imposed on Puritan society, fear finds its way into Salem, filling every possible aspect of life and leaving no crack overlooked. With nowhere to hide from this terror, the inhabitants of Salem are forced to find refuge in their lies instead.A fear for introduction causes the townsfolk to intellectively prioritize their own well being in an attempt for self preservation. This sense of self preservation naturally induces widespread lying and denial as the townspeople desperately scrape to maintain their own interests, whether they be life or reputation. Being aff iliated with witchcraft automatically exist ones life and status. Reverend Parris, being the religious leader of Salem, is expected to uphold Puritan ethic, and be an example for the rest of the town. However when his daughter and niece are discovered dancing like heathen in the forest (10), he fears that his reputation is brought into question because he thinks, that people will howl him out of Salem for such corruption in his house (14). As a result, when the suspicion of witchery comes up, Parris instantly dismisses it and prays bouncing not to witchcraft (14).Parriss role as minister means that any association of his that has anything to do with witchcraft is a threat to the security of his position and it is shown that he is quick to deny it. Likewise, Abigail and the girls are trap in a dilemma. After being discovered summoning charms, they find themselves hounded into a corner by the suspicions that are laid upon them. She and the girls lie about theirwitchcraft in the wood s in an attempt for self-preservation, whycommon dancing is all (42). Because calling the dickens is hanging crime, the children deny their witchcraft and claim to fall in danced in hallow to lessen their punishment which is another example of preserving oneself. John Proctor is another character whose lying is induced by his life threatening secrets. As he once said, there are them that will swear to anything before theyll hang (69).Both him and Abigail abide by this precept. In Proctors case he denies his former relationship with Abby because it ruins his image in his wifes eyes and because it is lechery. He tells Abby to wipe it out of mind and claims that we never touched (23). By denying their affair, it is shown that Proctor fears the consequences that may arise and possesses an intrinsic sense of self-preservation. Abigail on the other hand, goes to even greater lengths to protect herself from the harsh penalties of the law. Her need for self preservation is so strong, th at she even lies to the judge, denying that she had an affair with Proctor and that she was previously pretending in court. When Abigail is asked to confirm her affair with Proctor, she threatens Danforth saying, If I must answer that, I will leave and I will not come tail end again (111). This demonstrates that Abigail is aware of her actions but will not admit it for doing so will mark her as a perpetrator of innocent murder. In addition, her denial is influenced by the risk of death by lying to the court. It is evident that the widespread fear in this society is a driving force that compels the characters to behave in ways that will protect their status and lives. However, this denial becomes an issue when others are dragged into the fire. When denial does not sufficiently channel away the suspicions laid upon them, some characters go so far as to accuse others. This leads to unenviable consequences, such as the loss of many innocent lives, that soon become unstoppable. Mary Warr en is one of many characters who point fingers to others in order to save themselves. Characterized as an unsteady, and unconfident person, Mary is easily overcome by the fear of execution. During her testimony to the court, Proctors plan to prove Abigail as a witch goes rottenly wrong. Rather than rhaving Abigail accused, Danforth charges Mary with lying to the court and she suddenly finds that she has become the victim. As a result, she blames Proctor, Youre the Devils man Ill nothang with you you come at me by night and every day to sign The Devils book (118). This shows that after being overwhelmed with fear, Marys fear explodes and she decides to accuse the very person who dragged her into court in an attempt to free herself from the spotlight. Consequently, John Proctor, a man innocent of witchcraft is hung.More crucial however, are the accusations made by the children. Led by Abigail, the children, at first, pretend to be bewitched because it was considered sport. They so on learn that by doing so, they are exempt from witchcraft as they are considered Gods fingers. By taking this position, the girls free themselves from accusation and all suspicion which is the deification position to be in. During Marys testimony, Danforth becomes increasingly convinced that she is telling the truth. This places more suspicion on Abigail and the girls. As a result, they resort to accusing Mary Warren of sending her spirit out to them, Mary, do you send this shadow on me? (109).In another instance, while the girls are being questioned about who they cuting machine with the Devil, they proceed to chant out the names of random townsfolk, I saw Bridget Bishop with the Devil I saw George Jacobs with the Devil I saw daintiness Howe with the Devil (48). Furthermore, Abigail herself, partakes in these accusations even while she is outside of court. When solid presses her with questions relating to her witchcraft, her slave enters and instantly Abigail points at Tituba saying, She made me do it She made Betty do it (43).Again, Abigail frames someone in order to save her own life. With the blame now in Tituba, she, in return, claimed she saw Goody Good and Goody Osburn with the Devil. These repeated accusations continue unchecked and soon, the entire town is enveloped with an atmosphere of fear. These false accusations also cause the trials to be prolonged. Because of all these accusations, more and more people are sent to court. With the corrupt children as juries, more and more are sentenced to the grave. The extent to which the townspeople go to in order to save themselves ultimately results in widespread injustice and executions. For the entirety of the play, the townspeople are smothered with an ever-growing atmosphere of fear. With its cold judges, corrupted juries, and severe punishments, it is not surprising that such an element of fear was present in Salem. In return, the people develop an instinct for selfpreservation which requires denial to achieve. However, such widespread denial and lies result in unchecked accusations. These accusations are often carried through and the fear of death soon spreads. Therefore a never ending one shot of terror is the outcome and the town ultimately gives way to chaos.

Cultural Diplomacy: a Filipino Perspective Essay
I. WHAT IS heathen statesmanship?Considered as a relatively new term in international relations and among governments, a commonly cited definition of pagan diplomacy is that of Milton Cummings, an American Political Scientist which defines Cultural Diplomacy as the transmute of ideas, information, values, systems, traditions, beliefs, and other aspects of refining, with the intention of fostering mutual understanding amidst or among nations (Kang, 2013) or simply put, it pertains to a pagan form of international communication between and/or among nations (Kieldanowicz). It was only during the past decade when governments started to and restrain increasingly paid attention to the practice of Cultural Diplomacy and have acknowledged the growing impressiveness of cultural dimensions in analyzing the ever-increasing complexity of extraneous affairs (Kang, 2013).Art and culture argon two fundamental aspects of cultural diplomacy, as these are the forefront of many countries prom otional efforts. The showcasing of a spheres cultural heritage, as made possible by cultural diplomacy, provides a country with the opportunity of showing who they are and create a positive image which will help them achieve their political aims (Kieldanowicz). This belief was echoed by Filipino DFA Secretary Albert del Rosario was quoted scaning DFA recognizes the impact of culture in modern diplomacy and sees it as an impressive tool in protecting our national interest, in advancing our advocacies and in achieving the development agenda of the country in the international arena. Cultural diplomacy is described as a course of actions, which are establish on and utilize the exchange of ideas, values, traditions and other aspects of culture or identity, whether to strengthen relationships, enhance socio-cultural cooperation or lift national interests Cultural diplomacy can be practiced by either the public sector, toffee-nosed sector or civil society. From this definition, we ca n gather that cultural diplomacy is similar to an throwment between two countries for the purpose of strengthening their relations through their cultures.II. PHILIPPINE ISSUES IN LINE WITH CULTURAL DIPLOMACYThe first issue which the group considers significant in line with the establishment of cultural diplomacy is the schoolgirlish populations patronization of Korean, Japanese and American pop culture. As previously mentioned, art and culture stools up our identity as Philippines, however with the continuous and increasing Japanesation, Koreanisation and Americanization of our young generation, the young population is slowly losing its Filipino identity this then becomes a hindrance to the promotion of local Philippine culture, so the question is how could the Philippine local culture be promoted abroad if lo cry (out)y, at that place is difficulty in promoting, much less preserving it.III. protrusion OF ISSUES ON FOREIGN POLICYThe Japanesation, Koreanisation and Westernizatio n of the Filipino pop culture must be addressed by the Philippine government. We believe however, that action must first be taken in the local or domestic level and extend it later on to the international level by virtue of foreign policy. In line with this issue the government may sponsor students to study sociology with focus on Philippine culture, or establish art competitions such as song-writing and painting contests and the like. This will later on be reflected in the foreign policy by the establishment of government sponsorship of foreign students studying of Philippine culture and society. As we know, globalization is defined as worldwide integration and development and it has helped in improving the scrimping of different countries. Nowadays, there is a need for all the countries need to improve their exports to be able to make it in the international market. But despite that, globalization has also caused problems such as in cultural diplomacy, an example of this is the Bu siness Process Outsourcing Industry. Even though the pay is nice in such an industry, there is an issue concerning cultural clashes. Since most of the BPOs came from the western side of the earth and then merely outsourced, there is a clash of what are the ways of living in one certain country and the ways of doing things when brought to the receiving country. thither would be a lot of issues that would need to be addressed which causes in problems in cultural diplomacy. allows use the call center business as an example. Lets us say that there is a new call center has been outsourced here in the Philippines. In the country where the call center originated they do no not celebrate Christmas or Lent but here in the Philippines we do celebrate these events. This is where the clash begins, because these are two different countries with two different cultures, it would be awkward to make or form a cultural diplomacy. There is a need to have dialog to address such issues and so that bot h parties can agree on decide on something to agree on to form a partnership through cultural diplomacy.

Both India and China had strong enough civilizations to withstand the challenges they faced and not completely fall.Because of Chinas strong political system and because of Indias uniform religion, both civilizations were able to recover and animise themselves. Nomadic invaders attacked both civilizations and this wa s a setback but strong emperors helped regain order. The strength of the political systems was besides challenged. Arab invaders tried to convert India to Islam but failed because Indian religious leaders worked to strengthen HInduism. In China bureaucrats became indulge and started fighting for power and assassinating each other.Thankfully the Sui and Tang dynasties worked to regain power and they restored Confucianism because they knew it worked in the past.
